Hongqi HS6 PHEV Achieves Its Second Guinness World Record

Chinese automotive brand Hongqi, represented in Türkiye by D & D Motorlu Araçlar A.Ş., has secured its second Guinness World Record with the plug-in hybrid SUV Hongqi HS6 PHEV.

The model earned the title of “the longest distance traveled by a plug-in hybrid SUV without refueling under low-temperature conditions” after covering 1,131.133 kilometers during a driving test conducted in harsh weather conditions below -20°C. The record was achieved using a completely standard production vehicle without any modifications.

Previously Broke Another Record

The HS6 PHEV had already set another Guinness World Record in November by achieving a total driving range of 2,327.343 kilometers with a fully charged battery and full fuel tank, making it another record holder within the plug-in hybrid SUV category. With this achievement, the model has now secured world records in two separate categories within a short period of time.

Technical Architecture and Range Figures

Launched in China in December, the HS6 PHEV is positioned within a price range of 178,800 – 228,800 yuan (approximately 25,800 – 33,000 USD). The model is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged plug-in hybrid powertrain, while the internal combustion engine produces 110 kW (148 hp).

The front-wheel-drive (FWD) version features a 168 kW (225 hp) electric motor, while the all-wheel-drive (AWD) version adds a rear electric motor producing 201 kW (270 hp). On the battery side, 23 kWh and 40 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs are available.

According to CLTC figures:

23 kWh FWD: 148 km electric range / 1,580 km total range
40 kWh FWD: 248 km electric range / 1,650 km total range
40 kWh AWD: 225 km electric range / 1,460 km total range
Thanks to 4C fast-charging support, the battery can be charged from 20% to 80% in just 15 minutes.

Dimensions and Interior

Positioned within the five-seat mid-to-large SUV segment, the HS6 PHEV measures 4,925 mm in length, 1,970 mm in width, and 1,740 mm in height. Its 2,925 mm wheelbase provides a spacious cabin environment.

Inside, the model features a modern triple-screen cockpit design. The dual 15.6-inch displays with 2.5K resolution are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P processor. Combined with a compact digital instrument cluster and multifunction steering wheel, the cabin delivers a technology-focused driving experience.

On the comfort side, highlights include a “zero-gravity” front passenger seat capable of reclining up to 173 degrees, multi-mode massage functionality, and a 16-speaker Dynaudio sound system. Cargo capacity is offered at 503 liters as standard and expands up to 1,977 liters with the rear seats folded down. In addition, the cabin features 31 different storage compartments throughout the interior.
